Hello to heavy Mondays and sparse other days

Being a university student is very exciting. Getting your lesson slots is equivalent to all-out warfare, fastest fingers first. Miss the button for only a split second and ALL places are immediately snapped up. By sneaky invisible forces!

Now, James Cook students may be grumbling about their primitive method of class selection – grabbing a file passed around during lessons and hurriedly scribbling your name on it – but I rather take to it. Scheme, grab, WRITE! And if you end up the loser, you could always play the angry spectator and comment on the selfish behaviour of others, instead of having to holler senselessly at the computer screen. I would like my enemies to be visible, at least.

So, for the bone-weary and frazzled: here’s Pietro Cavarretta’s summer mixtape that will lull you into peaceful oblivion! “Best enjoyed with a piece of chicken”!

1. Cielo in una Stanza – Mina
2. On the Sunny of the Street – Louis Armstrong
3. O mio Babbino Caro – Maria Callas
4. Voi, che Sapete – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
5. Ah chi mi dice Mai – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
6. Blowing in the Wind – Bob Dylan
7. Fenesta Ca Lucive – Giuseppe di Stefano
8. Core ‘Ngrato – Giuseppe di Stefano
9. Cuando Calienta el Sol – Luis Miguel
10. Summertime – Nina Simone
